ABOUT

Selva Wohlgemuth, MS, RDN, CGN (owner)

As a Bellingham, WA local I am an avid outdoors woman, enjoying the wonders of nature we have here in the Pacific Northwest. If I am not working, you can find me sharing a delicious meal with family or friends, behind a camera lens, knee deep in research articles, or adventuring with my husband and son.

My interest for nutrition began when I was an undergraduate at Western Washington University. In my free time I read nutrition textbooks and cookbooks, and even worked at a local health food store. I began to notice my health change for the better and consequently inspired those around me to do the same. My passion for nutrition never ceased and I went on to study it further at the leading integrative and functional nutrition program in the country at Bastyr University, completing their Master's in Nutrition Program and their Didactic Internship.

Initially, when starting my private practice in 2015 I wanted to work with all types of patients and health conditions to further enhance my general knowledge. Eventually, I began to focus my attention on gut health. Not only because many people are struggling silently with chronic digestive issues but because the consequences of an inflamed gut are far reaching. If we do not digest and absorb our food properly, we are not benefiting from the healthy (or not so healthy) foods we eat. Nutrient deficiencies, leaky gut, food intolerances, hormone imbalances, and much more can develop. More and more research has been highlighting how the gut microbiome can directly impact the development of chronic disease. As Hippocrates once said, "Health and disease begins in the gut".

With my in depth knowledge of the gut and women's health, I have helped many patients meet their health goals, including alleviating irritating gut symptoms and helping women conceive successfully after many years of trying. It is my passion to provide expert nutrition guidance and make a lasting positive change in someone's life!
HELPING PATIENTS WITH:
  • Gut Health: Helping patients improve gut function and alleviate GI discomfort including acid reflux/heartburn/GERD, gastritis, diverticulitis, chronic diarrhea or constipation, uncomfortable gas/bloating, etc.
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): Utilizing specialized diets and supplements to improve IBS symptoms and quality of life. Further stool/breath testing may be recommended.
  • Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and Large Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (LIBO): Utilizing specialized diets, herbal protocols, and breath/stool tests to help patients recover from SIBO and/or LIBO.
  • Prenatal Nutrition: Helping women have healthy pregnancies. Including assessing labs, supplements, and providing guidance on foods to eat to support the growth and development of the fetus.
  • Postpartum Nutrition: Helping women recover during the fourth trimester and support quality breastmilk. Nutrient quality of diet can help babies and mama thrive postpartum preventing nutrient insufficiencies and reducing the risk of postpartum depression/anxiety .
  • Women's Health & Fertility/Infertility: Supporting women with PCOS, endometriosis, and other hormone related disorders through dietary and lifestyle changes, lab analysis, and supplement support.

MY PHILOSOPHY:
My practice is based upon functional medicine and integrative nutrition principles. Everyone is unique, and therefore every treatment needs to be created accordingly. To accomplish this I take the time to get to know my patients extensively during the initial comprehensive case review and work alongside other members of their healthcare team (naturopaths, medical doctors, counselors, etc).

Furthermore, in order to find the key to health and wellness one must look at the body holistically...BODY, MIND, and SPIRIT as these are absolutely essential as part of healing. Therefore, I not only address nutrition but also lifestyle in a comprehensive treatment.

"Our body is a beautiful machine that needs tender love and care to work optimally."

Victoria Witrak, MS, RDN

Hi- welcome! So grateful you have found yourself here. I’m Victoria, a Registered Dietitian in the state of Washington. After receiving a bachelors in Business Management, I went on to live in various states working in the medical industry and traveling the world as an aspiring climber, farmer, and yogi. Now with a M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics from the leading holistic and whole foods based approach nutrition program in the country, I can’t wait for the possibility of joining you on your journey to better health.

Here’s how I got interested in utilizing nutrition as a means to wellness:
For many years during my adolescence, I struggled with gut issues and a spectrum of disordered eating patterns. As I moved away from home, paving my own trail through life, my awareness of how unstable this was for both body and mind became more and more apparent, especially as an athlete. I started to surround myself with a community that emphasized the importance of growing  and foraging food, taking care of our ecosystem, and enjoying slower practices of movement that challenged me on an individualist level. Eventually, I could no longer approach my situation with a band-aid solution but rather started to get to the root cause of my underlying conditions with the help of books, podcasts, and people rooted in functional medicine.

Working in the healthcare system for over 15 years has further solidified my belief that because nutrition is at the forefront of comprehensive well-being, this is how I can actually contribute to my community in a meaningful way.

As a holistic and functional dietitian, who is driven to be part of a solution for a better world, I endeavor to bring people back to their intrinsic health by providing evidence based nutrition and lifestyle guidance. With this knowledge and experience I hope to help you peel back the layers that have left you feeling stuck through an effective and integrative approach to medicine. Regardless of where you are in your journey, it would be my honor to have you join me in continuing to rediscover the innate wisdom you already hold within you, so that you can move through life creating a rippling effect from a place of nourishment and resilience.
